Bonded Title Process Guide ABEST Bonds

Step 1: Visit the TXDMV

Start by completing the required paperwork with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Visit one of the 16 regional Texas Department of Motor Vehicles offices nearest you.  You fill out their bonded title application and pay $15 to obtain a Notice of Determination.  The bond amount will be found on their letter.

**************************************   Effective 11/14/2024 per TXDMV new rules, all vehicles with liens within 10 year are required to have an original lien release, or an original letter of no interest from the lien holder on record in order to proceed with the bonded title process at TXDMV. If you are unable to obtain such letters, you will now be required to go to district court and the court will decide if your vehicle is eligible for a bonded title.  Out of state titled vehicles, are still required to have a 68-A inspection from N TX Auto Theft, make an appointment at (214)

653-3430. If the out of state record shows there is lien holder, then you will need to obtain an original release of lien or a letter of no interest in order from the lien holder in order to obtain the bond packet from the TXDMV. 

Step 2: Get your surety bond with us!

Step 3: Submit your surety bond to the County Tax Office with your TXDMV bond packet.

You have 30 days, from the bond date to submit your paperwork to the county tax office to complete the title transfer. The tax office will provide plates and registration. Austin will mail the bonded title to your address.
